Golf course management and consulting

Management & Consulting

Over the past five years there has been a rapid increase in golf estate and resort development in South Africa and this sector is experiencing an unprecedented boom. The golf estate phenomenon is set to change the face of residential and leisure sector in the country. The growth of these golf facilities will need support and management which could save the developer time and money.

There is an opportunity to provide a golf consultancy service to these developments as very few individuals and no management company is operating or providing a holistic solution in this sector in South Africa. This situation has lead to the formation of Mark Wiltshire Golf (Pty) Ltd.

MWG will provide a number of services and support to the developer starting with the clubhouse and assisting with the layout design to ensure a proper flow is achieved with no wasted space and reducing unnecessary costs in under utilised areas. Architects often achieve "grandeur" but at enormous costs, however rarely do they design golf clubhouses that are appealing yet practical. This will follow on with a comprehensive operational plan to achieve and maintain consistent service levels. The benefits of the support MWG provides can be significant on the golf component. It is important to recognise the major income streams in golf and lay the "foundation" for the operation to link the homeowner to membership.

Some of these golf consultancy services include financial projections and models, documentation of all pre plans & operational systems and procedures, secure preferential suppliers, source qualified staff to be employed & trained, stock & set up of pro shop, membership - including the constitution plus categories & fees, course presentation, service levels, set up of the golf academy, teaching programmes, range layout & design, sales and marketing. Ideally the work to be done will be divided into two parts, the first being a pre-opening plan followed by the operational plan.
